In the previous blog , We learned about the importance of SELVO phase selector switches or rotary switches . Its working principle , and its types . In this blog series, we delve deep into the world of SELVO SPN Phase Selector Enclosure, exploring its features, benefits, and real-world applications.
CONSTRUCTION
The SPN Phase selector enclosure contains different components which have its own functionality and importance, so will discuss each and every parts used in this topic .
1.ENCLOSURE : This robust metal box is fabricated in heavy gauge CRCA SHEETS , which undergoes a seven-tank phosphating process and is duly powder coated for resisting corrosion and rusting of the metal box . It features a compact and space-efficient design.
2. Indicating lamps: Indicating lamps are fitted and duly wired , they indicate by glowing for the phase selected through which power supply flows , here are the three lamps for each consecutive three phases.
3. Wires: SELVO wires are used for connection , these are ISI marked as per IS : 694 , the CM/L number is 8800121550 .
4. Connector: A connector is a junction for the connection of input power supply to rotary switches , which will be connected to the output load .

WORKING PRINCIPLE
The Main power supply will be provided to the connector , As given in the wiring diagram, the three-phase supply is given, and each of the phase wires is connected to the respective terminals 1,2 & 3, and each of the three indicating lamps connections are connected through its corresponding phase.
The Neutral wire is connected to terminal two of the first indicating lamp, and further it is connected in series with the other terminal two of other indicating lamps of rest of the two phase. That’s all about the wiring diagram.
The working principle is easy to understand
So, the term single pole signifies that it will be used for single-phase applications, and three-way means a three-way rotary switch allows the user to select from three different input power supplies.
If a power cut occurs in the first phase, then you must rotate the switch to any of the adjacent second or third phases that have the power supply. Internally, as shown in the above two images, the specific shape of the cam forces certain contacts to open and others to close. This re-routes the electrical flow from the different inputs to an output load. This device is applicable for single-phase power supply.
SPN PHASE SELECTOR WITH MCB PROTECTION
Introducing the SELVO Single Pole Neutral (SPN) Phase Selector Enclosure with MCB protection. This aesthetically designed enclosure features a Single-pole MCB protection system. It comes assembled with 1 pole 3-way cam-operated rotary switches, ensuring convenient phase selection. The rotary switch is crafted with superior insulating material like Nylon for enhanced electrical and mechanical stability and with silver-tipped butt contacts. The enclosure is fabricated from a durable CRCA sheet construction. The load terminal is connected to the input terminal of the MCB, and the output terminal of the MCB will be connected to the load. Select the phase where there is a power supply, and after that, switch on the MCB so that power flows to operate the load.
